This is pretty much done being modeled. More may be added once it's been textured, if it feels like it's missing something...but as far as what you see here, everything is UVed and laid out.

Once I've textured and lit this I'll switch out some of these images with the "finals".

I'm eventually going to build an environment for him, but I have a few other projects to tackle for my sculpture/illustration blog before I get to that.

After a bunch of sculpture and illustration stuff (up on my other blog), I finally returned and finished this up. He now has the full range of lipsync-capable blends, is fully rigged and weighted, and has a second/2.5 pass at texturing. He still needs displacement, bump, and a little bit of cleanup around the seams...but he's basically ready to animate. I'm going to do a walk cycle this week, and sometime in the future I plan to make an environment for him (after I finish a couple of other small projects).

A character that began with a simple idea: "Show that I can build (and enjoy building) cute characters that appeal to a wider audience." He might not be the most adorable thing in the world, but I'm really happy with him overall. I still have to make blendshapes and texture the fellow, but I have a couple of other projects that I should finish first.

I've decided to create a second blog exclusively for my 3D stuff...as the other one can get a little confusing and cluttered going back and forth between illustration and computer animation.

Because this blog doubles as my online portfolio, here are some sophomore year examples of modeling from actual objects. The last is a paper cutter that is modeled as an "exact replica" all the way down to the screws and other machinations. (not sure why Robie, in the middle, is squished...I'll fix that as soon as I figure it out).
